We The Faceless Demo. Time for a grunge revival? Londoners We The Faceless certainly think so, proudly proclaiming "We are the new grunge". With influences†from†Nirvana, Mudhoney and Queens of the Stone Age, this six-track EP, their debut release, is promising stuff, with opening track 'Firefly' and the broodingly funky 'Taxi Driver' particular standouts.
Frontman Jacques Smit has the right voice for grunge, while the rhythm section of bassist Diego Saralegui and drummer Peter Tervet rumble along nicely, Saralegui's basslines helping to define the band's sound in much the same style as the aforementioned Queens. As is often the case with a limited budget indie release, the production here is a little flat. But overall this is a good effort.
